They examine the expected interest rate rise, the conflicting views at the Fed with regards to low inflation and potential build-up of imbalances in the market, as well as the long-term consequences of the Fed’s decision to unwind the $4.5 trillion balance sheet.

Against the background of the COP23 climate conference in Bonn, Buckle examines the progress made in implementing the 2015 Paris climate agreement, and further steps national governments and international bodies should take to meet climate change goals. The role of private investment and technological innovation is also discussed.

OMFIF Focus Podcast – Globalisation series: ‘China driving globalisation’. Robert Koopman, chief economist at the World Trade Organisation, and Denis Hew, director of the Policy Support Unit at the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation Secretariat, join OMFIF Chief Economist Danae Kyriakopoulou for a conversation on China’s role in global value chains as it matures and rebalances towards a less export-driven economy. They discuss the impact of digitalisation on trade and of technological advancements on China’s economy, as well as the repercussions for the region and other emerging markets.
